When building something with the intent of enriching what’s around it, one must start in the center. On the site of the old Woolworth’s Building, One City Center will be a residential, retail and commercial building located in the center of Durham. This landmark property, a Class AAA mixed-use building, will be a one-of-a-kind structure, and Austin Lawrence Partners will utilize only the highest quality of materials–melding the elements from the original, early-20th century facades–during its intensive renovation. In fact, ALP will be using approximately 80% of the salvaged original brick while reconstructing the facades along both Parrish Street and Main Street.
Upon completion, One City Center will combine the old with the new to contribute to the burgeoning collection of great buildings downtown while championing the vitality of the city’s core. One City Center will shine as the tallest building in Durham and stand as a true landmark for years and years to come.
See below for photos of the original buildings that once existed on the site as well as renderings of the future One City Center above.
